Itinerary Details

Day 1-2: Kathmandu
We kick start the trip on arrival at Kathmandu. Since no activities are planned, you can arrive at your own time. A briefing of the trip will be given by the tour guide. We will begin by our visit to Boudhnath Stupa; a place of worship for the Buddhist, the shrine is one of great importance to the Buddhist religion. Here we shall visit monasteries and watch the monks in prayer. We will continue and make our way to Pashupatinath temple, considered one of the holiest sites dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple holds great importance as a place of worship to the Hindus. It forms a major part of the people on a day to day basis. Here you can watch devotes offering prayers and watch the activities that are undertaken in the temple premises. The rest of the afternoon you can engage in relaxing and shopping.

Day 3: Pothana
We will take the bus to Pokhara this morning and begin our trek by walking up to Pothana. Through the trek you will view the mountains, making you feel so close to nature.

Day 4: Modi Khola
We trek our way through the rhododendron forest to the Bichok Deurali pass. We then descend into Modi Khola Valley and then into the village of Landruk for lunch. We will then continue our descend into the river.

Day 5: Sinuwa
The trail goes up to the village Chomrong the last major settlement before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. From the village the trail follows the Modi Khola high above the valley floor. After a steep descent on a stone staircase to the Chomro Khola, we cross the river on a small suspension bridge and reach Sinuwa where we will spend the night. From here we have super views of the fishtail mountain also known as Machhapuchhare.

Day 6: Himalaya Lodge
We shall enter rhododendron and oak forest and continue to ascend gradually to the clearing known as Bamboo Lodge where we will take lunch. In the afternoon we pass the small lodge at Doban and then a small shrine decorated with flowers and strips of red and white cloth which are symbolized as offerings to the Gods for a safe passage to the Sanctuary. The trail continues through the thick forest high above the river to the spot known as Himalaya Lodge where we shall stay overnight.

Day 7-8: Machhapuchare Base Camp
After two days walking through the forest we now head into a glaciated valley. The trail emerges out of the forest just before Hinko Cave, a huge boulder, where views of the peaks are restricted by the huge valley walls. Beyond the cave we descend to cross avalanche debris and advance to our first tea stop of the day at Deorali. Further along the trail is less steep and after crossing further old avalanche debris we reach an open meadow that leads to the gateway of the Annapurna Sanctuary. In less than an hour we reach the lodges at Machhapuchare Base Camp, arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon is free to enjoy the truly spectacular scenery of the surrounding peaks. To fully experience this magical location and to aid acclimatization we will explore the surrounding area the following day.

Day 9: Annapurna Base Camp
We head into the heart of the mountains and follow the trail ascending to Annapurna Base Camp, which should take a little less than two hours. You can be assured of beautiful scenery along the way. After settling into the lodge we will take lunch and the afternoon is free to enjoy the sensational views of the surrounding peaks - some of the best mountain views of the Annapurna region. The views are delightful during sunset and sunrise.

Day 10: Himalaya Lodge
We will retrace our step and will gain ground as we advance downhill. The trek is easier and less strenuous. We will stay at the Himalaya lodge for this night.
